• Unusually low rent
• Requests for deposits before viewing a property
• Stolen property photos![]()
How to protect yourself:
•Never send money until you’ve signed a formal lease and viewed a property in person.
•Always confirm the landlord’s identity/legitimacy of the property before proceeding.
•If you spot a potentially fraudulent listing, please report it to the proper authorities.![]()
If you ever feel you were a victim of fraud, Canada.ca encourages people to report fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC). Also, visit the Government of Canada website to learn tips on how to protect yourself from scams and fraud.![]()
